6/1/2010 2:28:18 PM - ALBUQUERQUE – A Jal resident turned a $10,000 prize from the New Mexico Lottery into a $30,000 windfall.

In the Hot Lotto® drawing May 22, Perry Fulfer matched the winning numbers of 8, 12, 19, 24 and 30. Matching five white balls ordinarily pays $10,000, but the prize was tripled by the game’s Sizzler® option. For an extra $1 per wager, Sizzler triples non-jackpot prizes.

Fulfer claimed his prize by mail. His lucky ticket came from Allsup’s Store No. 308 at 110 W. Kansas Ave. in Jal. This store has sold nine other large prize-winning lottery tickets ranging between $1,000 and $10,000.

Since its inception in 1996, the New Mexico Lottery has raised $438 million for education and more than 61,000 students have attended the state’s public college and universities on Legislative Lottery Scholarships.

As of the Spring 2009 semester, 1,400 high school graduates and GED recipients from Lea County have received $3.1 million in Legislative Lottery Scholarships.
