Albuquerque Man Wins $470,000 New Mexico Lottery Prize

7/19/2010 10:06:03 AM - ALBUQUERQUE – An Albuquerque man claimed a $470,000 prize from the New Mexico Lottery Friday.

Peter Martin’s quick-pick ticket for the July 12 Roadrunner Cash drawing matched the winning numbers of 5, 7, 19, 24 and 30.

“I feel very lucky and truly thankful for this,” he said.

Martin said he plans to share his prize with favorite charities and members of his family.

The winner bought his lucky ticket while purchasing a Sunday newspaper at Y-Mart located at 1200 San Pedro Dr. SE in Albuquerque. Motivated by the game’s rolling jackpot, Martin purchased eight wagers using $8 in prizes from a winning lottery ticket he cashed while in the store.

Other recent Albuquerque winners include Scratcher players Robert McKee, who won $25,000 and Bessie Mora, $17,000.

Lottery Beneficiaries in Bernalillo County

Since 1996, the lottery has raised $442.7 million for education and more than 61,000 students have attended college on Legislative Lottery Scholarships.

As of the Spring 2009 semester, 18,600 students from Bernalillo County have received $105.6 million in Legislative Lottery Scholarships.
