ALBUQUERQUE – The Mega Millions jackpot for tomorrow’s drawing is $363 million, the third-largest in the game’s history.
The $363 million jackpot is almost four times bigger than Peyton Manning’s contract with the Denver Broncos; twice the total of U.S. ticket sales for the “The Hunger Games” this weekend; and 36 times more than Kim Kardashian spent on her wedding.
The jackpot run-up began Jan. 24 at $12 million. The odds of matching all six numbers to win the jackpot are approximately 1 in 176 million.
New Mexico Lottery CEO Tom Romero asked people to have fun without overspending.
“We want all our players to use good judgment and play responsibly,” he said.
The game’s record jackpot is $390 million. It was shared by players from Georgia and New Jersey in March 2007.
The New Mexico Lottery joined the Mega Millions game in January 2010. Mega Millions is played in 42 states plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings take place Tuesday and Friday evenings. Tickets are $1 per play and can be purchased until 8:45 p.m. MT for that night’s drawing.
Legislative Lottery Scholarships
All profits from the sale of New Mexico Lottery games fund an in-state college tuition assistance program. Since 1996, the New Mexico Lottery has raised $510 million for education and more than 75,300 students have attended college on Legislative Lottery Scholarships.
