Yesterday, she claimed a $50,000 prize from the $5 “Red Hot Cherries” Scratcher.
“It feels good, but it’s a shocker,” Vasquez said on her run of good fortune.
Vasquez said she bought the ticket paying $50,000 late last week and played it four days later.
“I have a superstition,” she said. “I buy them and then I put them in an envelope to marinate.” Vasquez said she plans to use her five-figure windfall to buy a car and make a down payment on a home. She bought both tickets at Pic Quik No. 3 located at 1501 E. Amador Ave. in Las Cruces. Previously, the store has sold two other large prize-winning lottery tickets paying $15,000 and $30,000.
