New Year’s Day Powerball Jackpot is $483 Million

12/30/2021
ALBUQUERQUE – The estimated Powerball® jackpot for the January 1, 2022 draw is now $483 Million.

If the jackpot prize lands in New Mexico, it will beat the state’s previous record jackpot of $206.9 million shared by nine Powerball players from the Roswell area in September 2008.

New Mexico Lottery CEO David Barden said, “Have a happy, fun and safe New Year and please remember to play responsibly.”

It’s been a big year for Powerball. In August, Powerball added a third weekly draw night on Mondays to produce bigger jackpots, generate faster-growing jackpots, increase the number of cash prizes and jackpots awarded to players and increase contributions to funding vital public programs and services in each jurisdiction where the Powerball game is sold.

The Powerball jackpot was hit six times in 2021. Two were in the top five largest Powerball jackpots in the game’s history.

New Mexico Lottery players have until 8:00 p.m. MT on Saturday to buy tickets for the next Powerball drawing.

Powerball First Millionaire of the Year®

There will be two big Powerball drawings on New Year’s Day. Just after midnight EST on January 1, a special $1 million drawing will be held for the Powerball First Millionaire of the Year event live on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2022” on ABC. Then at 10:59 pm EST, Powerball will hold its regularly scheduled Saturday drawing for the estimated $483 million jackpot.
