ALBUQUERQUE – The New Mexico Lottery reminds players this holiday season to please gift responsibly.
Every year, the New Mexico Lottery offers special holiday-themed games. Many players find they are simple, fun gifts to add to a stocking, use as a tag on a gift, or place in a card. And, to raise awareness that lottery tickets are for adults, lotteries across the nation are reminding the public to gift responsibly.
Research shows that the earlier a person’s participation or even exposure to gambling is in childhood, the more likely they are to develop a gambling problem later in life. Gambling exposure during childhood is often through some kind of lottery product, given by an adult who is likely unaware of the associated risks.
As part of a National Awareness Campaign about responsible gaming, the New Mexico Lottery has included special messaging in their holiday advertisements to remind players that lottery tickets are for adults age 18 and older, and for players to please gift responsibly.
