New Mexico Lottery Reminds Players to Please Gift Responsibly

ALBUQUERQUE – For those who buy Lottery tickets as gifts, the New Mexico Lottery reminds players to only gift Lottery tickets to ages 18 and older.

Research shows that the earlier a person’s participation or even exposure to gambling is in childhood, the more likely they are to develop a gambling problem later in life. Gambling exposure during childhood is often through some kind of lottery product, given by an adult who is likely unaware of the associated risks.

As part of a National Awareness Campaign to raise awareness that lottery tickets are for adults, the New Mexico Lottery includes special messaging in their holiday advertisements. These messages ask players to please gift responsibly and include a reminder that lottery tickets are for ages 18 and older.
