ALBUQUERQUE – An Albuquerque man won three prizes on a Roadrunner Cash ticket, including a jackpot of $205,000.
To land the top prize in Saturday’s drawing, Richard Martin matched the winning numbers of 3, 4, 22, 26 and 33. Two other wagers on his quick-pick ticket paid prizes of $1 each.
As a member of the New Mexico Lottery’s free VIP Club, Martin receives email that posts winning numbers from the most recent drawings. On Sunday morning, he grabbed his ticket and opened his email to look for prize-winning matches. He described the discovery of having all five winning numbers as “just amazing.”
“I was a little bleary-eyed. I had to double and triple check the numbers,” Martin recalled for lottery officials yesterday. “I felt a little lightheaded afterward.”
After toasting himself with a glass of champagne, Martin said he plans to use his six-figure windfall to pay bills and makeover his 80s-era kitchen.
Martin bought his lucky ticket at Smith’s located at 3701 Constitution NE in Albuquerque. Previously, the store has sold eight large-prize winning lottery tickets paying between $1,000 and $16,000. For selling the jackpot-winning ticket, Smith’s is eligible for a $1,000 lottery bonus.
