ALBUQUERQUE – “Betty Boop™” and “Holiday Chia Pet®” Scratchers are now on sale. These fan favorites are only available for a short time.
Betty Boop first debuted as a dog-like character in 1930. Inspired by singer Helen Kane, she transformed to a female figure within a year. Her curvy form, curly locks and catchy “Boop Oop-A-Doop™” sound bite designated the first truly female cartoon representation.
The new $2 game featuring Betty Boop decorating a Christmas tree is the first of four upcoming Betty Boop Scratcher appearances.
Holiday Chia Pet is the second scene in a series of four Chia Pet tickets. The Chia Pet® revolution hit its stride in the 80’s following the 1981 release of a ram, the first widely marketed Chia Pet – likely made memorable with the “Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia” jingle. By 2007, about half a million Chia Pets were produced each year during the holidays.
These games incorporate a new strategy for the New Mexico Lottery – releasing scenes periodically to generate interest and keep tickets fresh during holidays and changing seasons.
Also on sale now are two additional new games, “Crossword Connect” and “Lotería New Mexico.”
